先日浅草に行ってきましたので「英語で説明してみよう！第2弾～浅草編～」をご紹介していこうと思います。
ここでは簡単なフレーズを使って説明できるようにしてみました。

英語で浅草を説明してみよう！雷門
まず正面に見えるのが雷門ですね。
”This is Kaminari-mon gate.”
「これが雷門です。」
※”Kaminari gate”というより”Kaminari-mon gate”と言う方が通例です。
“The gate’s name “Kaminari-mon” is written in Chinese characters on the front of the large lantern.
「門の名前の『雷門』と大提灯の表に漢字で書かれています。」
“Kaminari-mon is not the actually official name.
The official name is Furaijin-mon written in Chinese characters on the back of the large lantern.”
「実は『雷門』とは正式名称ではなく、『風雷神門』というのが正式名称で大提灯の裏に漢字で書かれています。」
“There are the two statues of guards as Buddhist deities on either side of the gate.“
「門の両脇には仏教の守護神の二神像が立っています。」
“Thier names are Fu-jin(the deity of wind) on the right side, and Rai-jin(the deity of thunder) on the left side.”
「右側が風神、左側が雷神といいます。」

仲見世通り
“This is Nakamise-dori street. You can buy a lot of different kinds of Japanese gifts on this street.”
「ここが仲見世通りです。ここでは様々な日本のお土産を買うことが出来ます。」
“There are many shops selling many Japanese nice gifts for overseas tourists.
I recommend you to buy a Maneki-neko, to bring you good-luck and welcome many customers in your business place.”
「海外旅行者にとってたくさんの良い日本のお土産が売られています。私は『招き猫』を買うことをお勧めします。これは幸運を呼んだり、また多くのお客さんを呼ぶと言われています。」
“And also you can buy and eat Ningyo-yaki or Kaminari-okoshi.”
「それから『人形焼き』や『雷おこし』は買って食べることが出来ます。」
“Ningyo-yaki is sweet bean paste in the shape of dolls.”
「『人形焼き』は人形の形をしていてその中にあんこが入っています。」
“Kaminari-okoshi is sweet rice crackers.
The reason why this is called Kaminari-okoshi is that this crackles thunderously when you eat.”
「『雷おこし』はお煎餅です。何故雷おこしと呼ばれているかと言うとこれを食べるときにバリバリと雷のような音がするからです。
浅草寺
“This is Senso-ji temple.”
「こちらは浅草寺です。」
“Senso-ji is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo.”
「浅草寺は東京の中でも最古の寺院です。」
“Senso-ji is not a Shinto shrine, so you just throw your coin, put your hands and pray.
You don’t need to clap your hands.”
「浅草寺は神社ではないので、硬貨を投げて、両手を合わせて、後はお祈りするだけです。
両手をたたく必要はありません。」
年末に浅草に行ったのでそこそこ混んでいましたが、おまけ
ランチが出来る良いお店さんを発見しました。
「手打ちうどん叶屋さん」
ホームページは無いようですがググってみればすぐに見つかります。
とても美味しかったのでおすすめです♪
